The first job of a balloon installation is to be the anchor of your event photography. That means the installation needs to read from twelve feet away — the distance most guests will stand when they raise their phones. A garland that looks generous in person often reads thin in a photo. When in doubt, size up.
Standard Garland Sizes at a Glance
- 6 ft — Accent garland. A gentle drape above a dessert table, cake table, or entryway console. Best for intimate gatherings under 25 guests.
- 9 ft — Statement piece. The most requested size — perfect above a backdrop, sweetheart table, or main photo moment.

A 9-foot organic garland can range from $325 to $800 depending on:
- Balloon quality — matte, chrome, and double-stuffed balloons cost more but photograph beautifully.
- Colour count — a 3-colour palette is standard; every additional shade adds inflation and design time.
- Accents — silk florals, greenery, palm fronds, and paper fans elevate the piece and elevate the price.
- Installation surface — a backdrop wall is quick; a curved staircase or textured ceiling adds hours.

Splurge on the piece your guests will stand in front of for photographs — this is the image that lives forever on Instagram and in your family album.
Save on filler garlands in areas where no one will linger. A single beautiful moment reads more luxurious than three medium ones scattered around the room.
A Quick Sizing Formula
Measure the width of the surface you want to accent. Order a garland at least 1.5× that width. For a 4-foot cake table, that means a 6-foot garland minimum; for an 8-foot backdrop, plan for 12 feet.
